Saturday Sew-In

Saturday sew-in at Quiltworks with the Monday Night Divas.  I was able to finish a quilt top for the nursing home.  We are distributing to the Nursing Homes on Tuesday so I will finish this quilt up for 2018.

Sewing rows together.

Halfway finished.

Top finished.

I was able to finish this quilt and turn it in for distribution on Tuesday.  Is was made from a kit provided by the Charity Bee of my Quilt Guild.

I used a flip and sew method to assemble and straight line quilting to finish.

Fabrics provided were very bright and tropical.

Beautiful fabric for the backing.

Spotlighting Diva Donna

Donna is a long time member of The Monday Night Divas Bee.  She completed a quilt earlier this year with a great back story.

Donna was an exchange student during one year of high school.  She lived with Oma in Belgium and has remained close throughout the years.  Donna collected t-shirts from Oma's Grandchildren (and a few from Texas) and made her a king size quilt.

Earlier this year, Donna was able to travel to Belgium  and give Oma her quilt for her 80th birthday.  Oma uses it to cover her living room couch, so everyone that enters her home can enjoy it.  She was surprised and delighted.

That is Oma on the right.

Another family member had this fabric made by a website like Spoonflower.

Diva's Block Exchange

I belong to a Quilting Bee called "The Monday Night Divas".  In the past, we have exchanged 2 1/2" strips twice, so we got brave and decided to exchange blocks.
The block is scrappy.  The only rules are each block must contain a piece of burgundy fabric and no obvious holiday fabrics.
We will exchange April - December.  Each Diva should end up with 99 blocks.  We are turning in extra blocks to be used in a charity quilt for our Quilt Guild.

Below are the blocks that I turned in.

April Block

May Block

July Blocks
I finally remembered to take a photo before I turned them in.

Diva Tina suggested this exchange and got her idea from this youtube video.

One of the Bees, challenged their members to create a quilt, using the colors of a candy wrapper.
The one below used the wrapper from Peanut M&Ms.

Beautiful Quilting

This is my favorite.
My camera colors are a little off, it was a pretty brown and blue.
