Scrappy Quilt Top from Block Exchange

Finally, put together my quilt top, from The Monday Night Divas Bee block exchange, in 2017.
We exchanged blocks for 9 months and ended up with about 120 blocks each. I love a good scrappy quilt.  I will link to the Youtube video that gave us this idea.

One Block

Sewing 2 blocks together.

Four block units.

One row complete.

First 3 rows complete.

Second 3 rows complete.

Top complete.  Finished 60' x 72".

All of the design boards had shop samples on them, so I had to get creative for my picture

Donation Quilt for Guild Show

West Houston Quilters Guild has a Quilt Show every other year.  I belong to a Bee called "The Monday Night Divas".  Each Bee is expected to contribute a quilt or basket filled with goodies to the Tin Can Raffle.  We decided to take some extra "scrappy" blocks from our exchange and make a quilt.

Here it is without the borders.

Finished with the borders and binding.
I think it was 60" x 75".

Pinned a hanging sleeve on so it could be easily removed.
The fold is intentional.  It accommodates a thick hanging strip without distorting the quilt.

Attached a label, so that winner would have information on creators.

Made a matching pillowcase for transport and to be used with the quilt.

How to make a quick and easy pillowcase.

Hopefully, the winner will enjoy it for many years to come.

The Donation Quilt is Quilted

The Donation Quilt is back from the longarm quilter.  It is beautiful.  Betty did a wonderful job.  Now I just need to trim it and sew on the binding, which is one of my favorite parts.

Donation to Quilt Show 2019

The Monday Night Divas had a block exchange in 2017.  We made extra blocks to use in a charity quilt and to use in a quilt to donate to the WHQG's 2019 Quilt Show.  This quilt will be our donation to the Show's Tin Can Raffle.

Jar Openers

I have joined the Charity Bee of WHQG.  We are in charge of making the free gifts that will be given to each attendee of the 2019 Show.  In the past, we have given out felt needle holders or totes.  In 2019, we will give a jar opener to each attendee. The Goal is 1000 by the end of the year.  Since I am new to the Bee, I have only completed 40, but around 600-700 have been made so far. There are about 10 members in the Bee, and we make them in lots of 20.

Cotton fabric on top, muslin in middle and rubber shelf liner on back.

Below is a link to the instructions.

HINT:  Place the rubber on the bottom, when topstitching and place a piece of old pattern tissue underneath.  Do not put the tissue all the way to the stitching line and you will not have to tear it out afterward.

Baby Doll Quilt

I had just enough of these fabrics left over to make a baby quilt, so this was my project for the Divas' July Sew-In.

Dinner and Gift Exchange

The Monday Night Divas Bee met for Dinner at Saltgrass Steakhouse and our annual Gift Exchange.  Getting eleven ladies together during the holidays is difficult, so we opted for January.  Good food and laughter with friends is always time well spent.

These are the gift bags that I gave to each Diva.
Each one contains a fat quarter, a notebook that I made and a wax fabric marker.
I, also, created the flowers from book pages and spray ink.

Diva's Block Exchange

I belong to a Quilting Bee called "The Monday Night Divas".  In the past, we have exchanged 2 1/2" strips twice, so we got brave and decided to exchange blocks.
The block is scrappy.  The only rules are each block must contain a piece of burgundy fabric and no obvious holiday fabrics.
We will exchange April - December.  Each Diva should end up with 99 blocks.  We are turning in extra blocks to be used in a charity quilt for our Quilt Guild.

Below are the blocks that I turned in.

April Block

May Block

June Block

July Blocks
I finally remembered to take a photo before I turned them in.

Diva Tina suggested this exchange and got her idea from this youtube video.
