Nursing Home Quilt and Preemie Blankets

Another Nursing Home Quilt finish and two more Preemie Blankets for the Children's Hospital.
My Quilt Guild asks that each member contribute a minimum of two quilts a year to be used in a nursing home, hospital or disaster relief.  Since I joined the Charity Bee, I have been much better about meeting and exceeding that goal. Sewing with other like-minded quilters is always fun.

Wickedly Easy Quilt

This quilt is called the Wickedly Easy Quilt and takes only 6 fat quarters.  I did add a 2  1/2" strip as a border all around to make it 40" x 52".  I belong to the Charity Bee so this quilt will go to a nursing home in December.  This size is perfect for the end of a bed or a wheelchair quilt.

This is a free pattern. You can use more fat quarters and make it bigger.

The backing was a perfect match.

Donation Quilt for Guild Show

West Houston Quilters Guild has a Quilt Show every other year.  I belong to a Bee called "The Monday Night Divas".  Each Bee is expected to contribute a quilt or basket filled with goodies to the Tin Can Raffle.  We decided to take some extra "scrappy" blocks from our exchange and make a quilt.

Here it is without the borders.

Finished with the borders and binding.
I think it was 60" x 75".

Pinned a hanging sleeve on so it could be easily removed.
The fold is intentional.  It accommodates a thick hanging strip without distorting the quilt.

Attached a label, so that winner would have information on creators.

Made a matching pillowcase for transport and to be used with the quilt.

How to make a quick and easy pillowcase.

Hopefully, the winner will enjoy it for many years to come.

Preemie Quilts for Children's Hospital

Three Preemie Quilts for Children's Hospital.  I am a member of a Charity Bee and we had a lot of flannel in storage.  Our leader wanted to put it to good use and create some space in the storage unit.
So, she cut 25" squares and brought them to the meeting.  We put two together right sides touching and sewed around, leaving an opening for turning.  After turning right side out, we stitched around the edge.  We use two pieces of flannel or one piece of flannel and one piece of cotton fabric to make these cute little quilts.

Flannel Rag Quilt for Linus Quilts

A flannel Rag Quilt that I finished yesterday.  It will be donated to Linus Quilts through the WHQG. I am a member of the Charity Bee and we are trying to use up all of the flannel in storage. I added the plane and kitty flannel from my stash.

Monday Night Divas' Dinner

Each year, The Monday Night Divas Bee has its holiday celebration in January.  We gave up trying to get together in December, years ago.  We had dinner at the Saltgrass Steakhouse and exchanged fat quarters.  We have 10 members, but only 7 were in attendance.
