Disappearing Four Patch

I was watching a tutorial on the Disappearing Four Patch by Missouri Star Quilt Company this weekend.  http://quiltingtutorials.com/all/disappearing-4-patch-quilt-block-tutorial/  I just had to give it a try.  She used 5" squares, but I decided to use 10" squares.

Sew four 10" squares into a four patch.

Cut 2" on both sides of the horizontal and vertical seams.

This is what it looked like after being cut.

Switch the top two squares.  Switch the bottom two squares. Turn the center four patch one turn to the left.

Sew back together.  Using 10" squares results in an 18 1/2"
 unfinished block.

Large Tote from My Stash

I went to the Red Barn for a three day retreat at the end of February.  This is one of the projects that I wanted to finish that weekend.  It turned out so cute.  I got the idea from The Missouri Star Quilt Co.  They have a Youtube video posted on their website with full instructions.  It is called, "Three Big Bags from one Jelly Roll".

I used fat quarters from my stash, so I had to cut 2 strips (2 1/2 " x 22") for each jelly roll strip that it calls for.

Here is a link:  http://youtu.be/M4-41NHuFe8

Approximately:  19" x19" x 4"

I had such a hard time cutting into these fabrics.  They are so scrumptious.

This Tote was donated to the WHQG to help raise funds for the Guild.

Lap Quilt for Hubby

I made this Lap Quilt for my Sweetie of  37 yrs.  It includes a foot pocket on the back per his request.
It is made from a Layer Cake.  Sliced into 3 1/2" and 6 1/2", sew two different fabrics together and slice down the middle.  This creates two 5"  x  9 1/2" pieces.  Each piece will consist of two different fabrics. Choose two pieces (four different fabrics) and flip one upside down.  Sew together for 9 1/2" blocks.  Below is a link to a tutorial by Missouri Star Quilt Co.

My Sweetie likes roses and always has rose bushes growing in the yard.  So I had it quilted in an open rose pattern by Trish Lopes.

Make a Friendship Braid Quilt Using the Binding Tool

You have to click on the YouTube on the bottom right corner to watch video.

I purchased the binding tool at the AAQG Show to make this quilt.  Check out all of the videos that Missouri Star Quilt Co.  puts out.  They are wonderful and full of ideas for using all of those Jelly Rolls, Layer Cakes and Charm Packs that you purchased and don't know what to do with.

I made a few more purchases as you can see below.

$2 Batik FQs, a lighted seam ripper, a little screwdriver that I have already used, a lining pattern for some baskets that I purchased a few years ago, a Horned Toad pattern (can't wait to make these), and a flexible light.

A sewing machine cover, thread catcher and a machine pad with pockets.
